Kathryn Rutherford paints specific locations by commission in original oil and watercolour paintings. Often these locations cannot be properly represented by a single photograph and can only be captured in a composition created by an artist.
Other times, people need to be in the painting---people who have passed away, are not available for a photo shoot or live many miles from the location.
If the location includes buildings or landscape that has long since been altered or removed, how else would you recapture this memory except through the creation of an original work of art.
